MAKING LEGENDS LOCAL: FUNdraiser tops $100k
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The British Invasion turned out some great acts for a great night of fundraising for the Carousel Center.
The non-profit held their 14th Annual ‘MAKING LEGENDS LOCAL’ Gala Saturday night in Wilmington. This year’s theme was “British Invasion” where volunteers dressed as their favorite musician/band that came from across the pond.
The sell out crowd saw more than a dozen acts that included The Beatles, Amy Winehouse, The Spice Girls, Queen, Billy Ocean, Ozzy Ozbourne, Whitesnake and even WWAY performing as WHAM. (See video for their rendition of “Wake Me Up(before you go go)”. The event was held at the Audi dealership in Wilmington.
Organizers estimate that the fundraiser, the Carousel Center’s biggest of the year, brought in at least $100,000 to help children who are abused in our area.
