FIRST ON WWAY: Ribbon cutting set for road connecting Mallory Creek, Brunswick Forest

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — A long-awaited road that will connect two large neighborhoods in Leland is almost ready to open.

Mayor Brenda Bozeman says a ribbon cutting for the nearly mile-long extension is tentatively set for July 1 at 10 a.m. as long as weather does not delay the project any more.

The new road will connect Mallory Creek Drive in Mallory Creek Plantation to Rice Gate Way in Brunswick Forest. It will also provide a direct route between US 17 and NC 133 and give emergency vehicles a quicker response time to the back of Brunswick Forest.

The town announced the project nearly a year ago.

The road was supposed to be done in March or April, but delays forced the completion date back.
