Man charged in hit & run death of Hampstead teenager
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Holly Ridge man arrested over Memorial Day weekend is in jail, charged in the hit and run death of a Pender County teenager last week.
Sgt. Matthew W. King with the North Carolina Highway Patrol said when following up on a lead over the weekend into the hit and run death of Tomas Hall Green on Highway 17 in Pender County, troopers located James Williams, Jr.’s vehicle, a 2002 Chevy pick-up truck.
After warrants were then taken out to search the truck, it was seized.
King said following interviews with Williams, and with consultation with the DA’s office, warrants were taken out for Williams.
Troopers arrested Williams Sunday, charging him with felony hit and run and driving while his license is revoked. Jail staff said he’s booked under a $50,000 bond and is slated for his first court appearance Tuesday.
King said the case remains under investigation, and that the SBI will process Williams’ vehicle.
