Man charged after missing Connecticut teen found in Brunswick County

OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A missing juvenile from Connecticut was found Monday at a residence in Ocean Isle Beach.

According to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were requested on April 27 to assist the Middletown Police Department in Connecticut with locating a female juvenile who had been reported missing to that agency on April 9.

Deputies located the juvenile at a residence in Ocean Isle Beach. Authorities say she was found in the presence of 51-year-old Justin Newman.

Newman has been charged with first-degree kidnapping and statutory rape of a child under the age of 15.

He was booked into the Brunswick County Detention Center, where he remains in custody.

 Authorities say additional charges may be filed.
