Deputies: Man jumps out of moving car to avoid arrest

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office said when they tried to stop a speeding driver, he jumped out of his car and tried to run off.

Deputies said it happened yesterday in the St. Helena community near Burgaw. They said Rashawn Amir Jackson, 32, was later arrested after a foot chase.

They said that in addition to the speeding charge and fleeing to elude arrest, Jackson is facing several drug charges including cocaine possession and heroin possession. He was booked under a $250,000 bond.
