Man convicted in death of Michael Jordan’s father seeking new trial

LUMBERTON, NC (AP) — One of the two men convicted in the murder of Michael Jordan’s father is again seeking a new trial.

WRAL-TV in Raleigh reports Daniel Green returned to court in Lumberton on Friday, arguing that he should be granted a new trial because a state blood analyst provided misleading testimony during his 1996 trial.

Defense attorney Scott Holmes said state crime lab analyst Jennifer Elwell testified that blood was found on the seat of James Jordan’s car and called four follow-up tests “inconclusive.”

Holmes said the four tests were actually negative for blood, adding that Elwell’s testimony influenced the jury.

James Jordan was shot to death in his car on July 23, 1993. His body was found in a South Carolina swamp.

Green insists that he didn’t kill James Jordan.
