Man struck and killed by car in Monkey Junction identified

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Highway Patrol has identified the man hit and killed in an accident on Carolina Beach Road.

Troopers say it happened just after midnight Thursday near Glen-Arthur Drive.

Investigators say Kris Shear was driving north when she hit 54-year-old Mark Edward Petrasek.

Petrasek was wearing dark clothing and walking in the road. Petrasek, who was from New Jersey, died at the hospital.

Shear will not face charges.
