Manteo man accused after ramming deputy’s cruiser
MANTEO, NC (AP) — Dare County authorities have charged a Manteo man who tried to elude sheriff’s deputies conducting a drug operation and rammed a deputy’s car.
The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk reports the Dare County Sheriff’s Office said members of its narcotics task force tried to stop the vehicle in Wanchese on Wednesday. A statement said the vehicle kept going and was pursued across the Nags Head Causeway to Whalebone.
The statement says the car reached Nags Head, where it turned around and rammed the deputy’s vehicle.
David Allen Lee faces multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, selling or delivering heroin and fleeing or eluding arrest with a motor vehicle.
Jones is jailed under $185,000 bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
