McCrory keeps defending ethics with Dalton attacks

RALEIGH, NC (AP) — North Carolina Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory is ready to field attacks on his record of ethics in politics.
Democratic rival Walter Dalton and his political allies have spent months trying to locate ethical stains that would reduce the comfort voters have with the former Charlotte mayor.
Dalton has talked about McCrory’s work at a Charlotte law firm and McCrory’s decision not to release tax returns. He recently raised questions about a vote McCrory made 18 years ago while Charlotte mayor pro tempore that appeared to benefit an old employer.
McCrory’s campaign said Dalton is desperate in the final weeks of the race. McCrory said the 1994 city council vote involving a land deal was inadvertent.
