RALEIGH, NC (AP) — Gov. Pat McCrory is ready to give lawmakers and North Carolina television viewers his take on the first two years of his term and what he wants to accomplish in the next two.

The Republican governor was scheduled to address a joint session of the General Assembly Wednesday evening for the biennial State of the State address.

McCrory and the GOP-led legislature already have been patting themselves on the back for policies they argue have put the state on firmer fiscal footing and helped reduce the unemployment rate significantly.

The governor has said he wants lawmakers this year to consider the administration’s economic incentives proposal and a bond offering for transportation projects. Pay raises for early-career teachers and instructors in hard-to-staff subjects or areas also are on his priority list.
