Mental Health expert says Moms need support beyond Mother’s Day

CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WWAY)– Mother’s Day is important, but one should celebrate their mother every day.

Business is brisk at Castle Hayn Farms, and while flowers are wonderful, the gifts of attention, consideration, and appreciation nurture mom’s mental health.

Mother and psychologist Erika Fisher has some advice for mom’s whose lives are juggling acts.

“Even though we do have a lot on our plates, it’s important that you’re taking care of yourself as a woman and as a mother, and as a wife, or just an individual,” said Fisher. “We have to make sure that we’re taking care of ourselves so that we can take care of other people. Because that’s really a lot that a mom does, is takes care of other people.”

Fisher adds one way to take care of mom on Mother’s Day and every day, is to remind her how much she’s treasured and appreciated.
