Midtown YMCA expansion: $15M project to break ground Friday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina will hold a groundbreaking ceremony July 31 to mark the start of construction on a $15 million expansion of its Midtown YMCA in Wilmington.

The ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Midtown YMCA, located at 709 George Anderson Drive.

YMCA board and staff leaders, elected officials, philanthropic and community funding partners, project architects and construction team members are expected to attend the event, along with YMCA members, volunteers and community leaders.

The Midtown YMCA opened in March of 2017.
