Miracle Field of Wilmington construction almost complete

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Miracle Field of Wilmington will soon offer a level playing field for the community, with just weeks left of construction.

After tons of fundraising and community support, a field paved with a special rubberized turf playing surface, and playground are almost ready for use, offering those with disabilities a chance to get active.

The field near Olsen Park is built regulation size designed to be accessible for children, wounded warriors, and seniors, and can accommodate Lacrosse, soccer, and even hockey.

It’s the first private-public partnership in the region, with the help of fundraising chairs Pete Hexter, and Trot and Kathryn Nixon.

But the fundraising efforts aren’t quite over. The League still needs an additional $100,000 to finish the field, parking lot, walkways, and then provide proper equipment.

Miracle League director Bo Dean stopped by Good Morning Carolina to talk more about the facilities and construction.
