Multi-agency operation targets registered sex offenders in Pender County

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A multi-agency sex offender compliance operation in Pender County led to multiple arrests for registration violations and other offenses, according to the Pender County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the operation was conducted from April 27 through May 1 and targeted approximately 149 registered sex offenders living in Pender County.

The operation involved several law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service and the Burgaw Police Department.

Officials said the effort focused on ensuring registered sex offenders in the county were complying with registration requirements and to improve community safety.

During the operation, investigators made multiple arrests for failing to comply with sex offender registration laws, along with arrests for other unrelated offenses.

Authorities did not immediately release the names of those arrested or additional details about the charges.
