Munition equipment found in Carolina Shores home

CALABASH, N.C. (WWAY) — Emergency crews responded to a home in the Carolina Shores subdivision after residents discovered fuses associated with air-dropped munitions while cleaning the property.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office responded along with other emergency personnel and secured the items.
According to the sheriff’s office, no injuries were reported and no arrests were made. The names of the residents have not been released.
Personnel from Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune also responded to the scene to remove the munitions-related items and safely dispose of them.
Authorities said the scene has since been cleared.
