NCDOT expects Ogden cut-through repairs to be completed by end of month
OGDEN, N.C. (WWAY_TV) — New details are emerging about the replacement of a collapsed roadway connecting Ogden and Murrayville after the popular cut-through filled with rushing water over the weekend.
The roadway, which collapsed in August after a major storm, was filled with more than 8 inches of water Sunday night, raising concerns among nearby residents.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation said the area received a large amount of rain in a short period Sunday, causing another washout at the site.
NCDOT said crews will need to replace the pipe beneath the roadway.
In a statement to WWAY a NCDOT spokesperson said:
“We are increasing the size of the pipe under the roadway at this location. The pipe has to be custom built, and it is expected to be delivered to the site in the next two weeks. There are also significant utility adjustments that need to be completed prior to the new pipe installation. Weather permitting, we hope to have these repairs complete by the end of the month.”
