LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Drivers traveling through Leland will now see a new warning sign along a busy highway ramp following recent safety concerns and a school activity bus crash earlier this month.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has installed a new rollover warning sign on the westbound entrance ramp from U.S. Highway 17 to U.S. Highway 74.

The sign is intended to alert drivers to the potential for rollover crashes while navigating the curved ramp.

NCDOT said the additional signage was installed to improve safety and provide drivers with an extra warning as they travel through the area.

The new sign comes after a school activity bus crashed on the ramp earlier this month, prompting renewed attention to safety along the interchange.
