New drug and addiction facility for women set to open in spring

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Christian Recovery Center is expanding its program.

It is one of the only women’s recovery programs offering free services.

When it opens in March, it’ll house up to 24 women. It’s called the Rose House.

CEO Joshua Torbich stated, “Each one of them will now have the opportunity to find themselves on a better track and a different place.”

The Rose house will open its newest drug and addiction facility which caters to women. It’s the third and largest recovery location in the county. The other two are men’s facilities.

Torbich says the program will provide individual and group therapy sessions, a vigorous curriculum, and chapel services everyday.

“There’s not a place where they can come for a 16 week period to be a part of a active treatment program that’ll not just kind of teach them the things that it takes to stay sober everyday and to live successfully, but naturally kind of use a springboard experience.,” Torbich said.

The campus was previously known as the Rose Bed and Breakfast, a home-style hotel.

“As soon as I came over and saw the place, I’d saw the vision, and I saw it filled up with people who need the assistance of Brunswick Christian,” Torbich said.

In November of 2018, he began talking to the B&B’s owners who were looking to retire. Torbich says they offered to sell him the house.

“Now it’s going to have a lot of people who are coming to visit for a different reason. To find a new life. A more successful life,” Torbich said.

And more help from the community Contractor Chris Mezzanotte with Carolina’s Construction says when he first heard about the new project, he immediately wanted to donate his time.

“The biggest thing we’re focusing on right now is the life safety issue. Things like fire alarms, sprinklers, fire extinguishers the correct number of exits, the type of exit materials and everything else,” Mezzanotte stated.

Children will also have a place to stay while their parents are in recovery. They’ll continue their education, have regular therapy sessions and more.
