New Hanover Community Endowment highlights millions in local investments in new Q2 report
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Endowment has released its Q2 2026 Quarterly Report, highlighting millions of dollars in investments, new partnerships and ongoing projects aimed at improving health, education, safety and economic opportunity across New Hanover County.
The report provides a snapshot of work completed during the second quarter of 2026 and details how grants and partnerships are supporting local nonprofits, schools and community organizations.
Among the report’s highlights:
- $4.4 million awarded through the Community Grants Program to support local organizations serving New Hanover County residents.
- More than $2 million invested through the Capacity Grants Program, helping nonprofits strengthen operations, leadership and long-term sustainability.
- Continued support for Good Shepherd Center, which used Endowment funding to expand homelessness prevention efforts and improve access to housing stability. The organization is featured as the report’s “Impact Spotlight.”
- Launch of the Bridge Builders Academy, a leadership development initiative designed to strengthen collaboration among nonprofit leaders across the county.
- Progress on the Family Forward NC initiative, which works with local employers to create more family-friendly workplaces through policies such as paid leave, flexible scheduling and child care support.
- Ongoing work to improve access to mental and behavioral health services, education initiatives and economic mobility programs through partnerships with local organizations.
The report also highlights The Endowment’s continued community engagement efforts, including meetings with nonprofit partners, listening sessions and collaborative planning designed to identify local priorities.
According to The Endowment, the quarterly reports are intended to provide transparency into how funding decisions are made and how investments are progressing throughout New Hanover County.
