New Hanover County deputies investigate murder, attempted suicide on Sanderling Place

New Hanover County, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting at a home on Sanderling Place that is being investigated as a murder and attempted suicide.
Deputies were dispatched to the 7800 block of Sanderling Place around 8 p.m. Tuesday following a 911 call.
During the investigation, deputies found 86-year-old Linda Bullington Anderson inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
87-year-old Jack Mitchell Anderson was found in the backyard suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, detectives are investigating the incident as a murder and attempted suicide based on the evidence gathered so far.
