New Hanover County man arrested on child sex crime charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man from New Hanover County has been arrested after allegedly having sexual interactions with a child.

According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, 20-year-old Oscar Benedict-Romero was arrested on Sunday.

He has been charged with indecent liberties with a child and statutory rape of a child under the age of 15.

Benedict-Romero has not been given a bond and is expected to make his first court appearance later this week.
