New Hanover County to dedicate new Gordon Road fire station

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County will officially open its newest fire station next week with a public dedication ceremony celebrating expanded emergency response capacity along the Gordon Road corridor.
The dedication and grand opening for the Gordon Road Fire Station, located at 5000 Gordon Road, is scheduled for Wednesday, April 29.
The new 14,431-square-foot facility will serve the surrounding Gordon Road area and will also house the administrative headquarters for New Hanover County Fire Rescue. County officials say the station is designed to improve response times and strengthen emergency services in one of the county’s growing residential and commercial corridors.
The project was designed by Stewart-Cooper-Newell Architects and constructed by Samet Corporation. It marks the second new fire station opening for the county this year, following the Castle Hayne station dedication in February.
The ceremony will include traditional elements of fire service celebrations, including a flag raising and a hose uncoupling ceremony, with county commissioners and fire rescue leadership in attendance.
County officials say the new station reflects ongoing investment in public safety infrastructure as the region continues to grow.
