New Hanover to vote on resolution to move up HB 142 end date

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A bill that replaced the controversial “Bathroom Bill” in North Carolina is set to expire in 2020. New Hanover County Commissioners might support moving that date up.

House Bill 142 basically repealed HB 2, but it also kept local governments from enacting their own anti-discrimination laws concerning bathrooms.

On Tuesday, commissioners will vote on a resolution supporting efforts to move up the sunset date to this year.

The resolution cites the challenges the film industry has faced since HB 2 and HB 142.
