New park could be built near Johnnie Mercer’s Pier

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The town of Wrightsville Beach may get a new addition near Johnnie Mercer’s Pier all in the form of a new park.

The town asks for a series of grants worth more than $1,000,000 to construct the new park called “East Salisbury Ocean Access Park”.

Wrightsville Beach Town Manager Tim Owens says they are in the process of pursuing the grants.

He said the park will feature a beach playground area, climbing structures, swings, a raised boardwalk, benches and more.
