New season of ‘NC Weekend’ to feature NC Aquariums, Roan Mountain and more

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC (WWAY) — PBS North Carolina will premiere the 24th season of NC Weekend on Oct. 1, with new episodes featuring destinations across the state.

The season opener will include a visit to Carolina Tiger Rescue in Pittsboro, along with stops in Statesville, the Asheville area and Kannapolis.

An Oct. 15 episode will focus on the 50th anniversary of the North Carolina Aquariums. Other destinations scheduled for the season include Dix Park in Raleigh, Roan Mountain in the Southern Appalachians and North Wilkesboro.

The series is hosted by Deborah Holt Noel and focuses on travel destinations, attractions and businesses across North Carolina.

New episodes will premiere Thursdays at 9 p.m. on PBS NC from October through mid-December. The show will not air new episodes Nov. 26 or Dec. 3 because of Thanksgiving and PBS NC’s fall pledge drive.

Additional episodes are expected to premiere from March through early July 2027.

The first five episodes will include themes focused on travel trails, outdoor activities, the North Carolina Aquariums, lodging and food-related destinations.

Episodes will also be available online, through the PBS app and on YouTube.
