New Surf City high-rise bridge gets green light from DOT
SURF CITY (StarNews) – For many vacationers, the sight of the Surf City swing bridge has been the unofficial start of their beach vacation to Topsail Island since the 1950s.

The N.C. Board of Transportation last week approved a $46 million contract for the new span. John Lennon, who represents Southeastern North Carolina on the board, said the project will improve access to the island.
