New Pender County dress code shot down

PENDER COUNTY — Pender County students won’t have to get a whole new wardrobe for the new school year.

The county school board had considered tightening up the dress code. The proposed regulations would have kept kids from wearing baggy, tight or revealing clothing, shorts or anything tagged with symbols or inappropriate language.

Board members shot down the new dress code at Monday night’s meeting. Instead, they’re asking administrators to do more to enforce current dress code guidelines.
