WILMINGTON JOURNAL: Brunswick Co. NAACP supporting Commissioner Charles Warren

In July of last year, Brunswick County Commissioner Charles Warren was appointed by his fellow commissioners to serve as a board member of the Department of Social Services. Not only did he assume his duties as a DSS board member, but he eventually became chairman of the board as well. According to Commissioner Warren, the first African-American Brunswick County commissioner to be elected in 28 years when he took the seat in 2008, a storm began brewing in September when a decision was made to terminate the director of DSS.
