NHC telecommunicator gets honored by county


NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (Press Release) — New Hanover County Emergency Management, 911 Communications Director Warren Lee and Deputy Director Debora Cottle are pleased to announce the recipient of the 2016 Mary Antley Telecommunicator of the Year Award. This year’s award is presented to Telecommunicator Leslie Hennessee.

Leslie received the prestigious award before the New Hanover County Commissioners during their April 18 meeting. She was selected by her peers and is recognized for the pride and passion she has in her work, as well as her dedicated efforts and willingness to work as a team to get job done.

“It’s an honor to present this award each year to those who have exemplified themselves through their excellence,” said Warren Lee, Director of Emergency Management and 911 Communications.

In selecting an honoree, 911 employees consider attendance, attitude, initiative, and quality of work.

The annual award is presented as part of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, which was established in 1981 and is dedicated to the men and women who serve as public safety telecommunicators. It is designed to recognize the hard work and dedication performed by these employees on a daily basis as they provide a vital link to public safety services.
