NHRMC new Heart Center hosts grand opening

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cardiac patients in the Port City no longer have to go to three different places for their heart.
Since June, New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s outpatient Heart Center has been serving the Wilmington Area.

Practice administrator Dora Daughhetee says “It’s really about convenience,” Daughhetee said.

The facility allows patients to get diagnostic testing, lab work and participate in their expanded rehab program.
Daughhetee says the new facility helps patients get their life back on track after a cardiac event. Something no one knows better than patient Elizabeth Miars.
“Three years ago in July, I had a heart attack,” Plus Miars.

She had three stints put in her circumflex artery, she’s been working out through the rehab program ever since.
“It was a good facility before but it was very small,” Miars said.

But space is no longer an issue. The facility takes up a whopping 62,300 sq ft. of space making it the largest cardiologist practice in the area.

Now, they’re opening the doors of the 14 million dollar facility to the public. The grand opening from 2-4pm tomorrow will feature tours, tips and demonstrations. Plus, the first 25 folks in the door will can get a free heart risk screening.
