Ninth annual Street Turkeys of Wilmington

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — It’s that special time of year again. It’s time for the annual Street Turkeys of Wilmington Food Drive.

This is the ninth year of the drive to benefit the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina at Wilmington. They collect the donations, like frozen turkeys, hams, soup, peanut butter, canned fruits, vegetables and many more. Members of the Wrighstville United Methodist Church say this is just a small act of kindness they can do to help others this Thanksgiving.

“We’re here to help each other and love each other and there’s not enough of that in this world and every day we hear about all the negative things that are going on and this is something that we can do that’s pretty positive and truly change lives. Collectively, if we all just did a little bit, the effect can be enormous,” Jay Isear, the event coordinator, said.

They are still taking donations until 7 p.m. but if you want to help after the deadline, click here.
