North Brunswick High School marching band raises money for upcoming season

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — With the start of the school year approaching, the North Brunswick High School marching band is preparing for another season of competitions and performances.

On Saturday, members of the marching band hosted a car wash at Advanced Auto in Leland to raise money for the upcoming marching season. The Scorpions washed and cleaned dozens of cars throughout the event.

The money raised will help cover costs associated with the marching season, including travel to competitions, food and replacing or repairing equipment.

Phoebe, a senior member of the band, said having reliable equipment is important because even small problems can become costly.

“It’s important we have all this up-to-date gear,” she said. “In past years, we have struggled to have our straps on our uniforms not pop off randomly. I know for the past few years, I have had a broken garment bag. It’s things like that that lead to expensive things getting ruined.”
