North Carolina Powerball ticket wins $1 million prize

RALEIGH, NC — A Powerball player in North Carolina is holding a ticket worth $1 million after Wednesday night’s drawing.
The winning $2 ticket was purchased at the Hop-In Citgo on North Road Street in Elizabeth City.
The ticket matched all five white-ball numbers, earning the $1 million prize. The odds of matching all five white balls are about 1 in 11.6 million.
The winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize.
Wednesday’s drawing also produced three $50,000 winning tickets. Those tickets were purchased at:
- Park N Shop on Weeksville Road in Elizabeth City
- Harris Teeter on Davis Lake Parkway in Charlotte
- Happy Smoke on Neuse Boulevard in New Bern
The next Powerball drawing is Saturday, with an estimated jackpot of $20 million and a cash value of $8.7 million.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are about 1 in 292 million.
