Bolivia, NC (WWAY) — Veteran students at Brunswick Community College will receive additional financial assistance through $4,000 in donations from the Oak Island Elks Lodge No. 2769.

The Foundation of Brunswick Community College recently received two gifts from the lodge to support veterans pursuing education and workforce training.

Of the funding, $1,000 will go toward emergency scholarships for veteran students facing unexpected financial challenges. The scholarships can help cover expenses such as groceries, vehicle repairs and other urgent needs that could interfere with a student’s education.

The remaining $3,000 will fund scholarships for veterans enrolled in the college’s Continuing Education & Workforce Development programs. Those programs provide education and training aimed at preparing students for employment or career advancement.

“We’re grateful to Oak Island Elks for continuing to support our veteran students,” Gabriella DiSisto, executive director of the Foundation of Brunswick Community College, said in a news release. “These gifts provide help where it’s needed most and give our veterans one more reason to keep moving forward.”

The Foundation of Brunswick Community College was established in 1982 and provides financial support for the college and its students.
