Ocean Isle Beach sea turtle group hosting fundraising beach contest Tuesday

Ocean Isle Beach, NC (WWAY) — The Ocean Isle Beach Sea Turtle Protection Organization is inviting the public to participate in a fundraising event Tuesday to support local sea turtle conservation efforts.

The “Take a Seat to Save Sea Turtles” event is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on the west side of the Ocean Isle Beach Pier.

Participants are encouraged to bring a beach chair and remain seated as the incoming tide reaches them. According to organizers, the last three participants still seated as the water rises will be recognized as winners.

Organizers said donations are encouraged to help fund wildlife-safe streetlights and other sea turtle protection efforts while promoting cleaner beaches and oceans.

A $20 donation includes a 4ocean bracelet, according to the organization.
