One dead after vehicle vs. pedestrian crash

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say one person is dead after an accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at Wrightsville Avenue and Allens Lane. That’s behind the Harris Teeter at Lumina Station.

WPD Cpl. Adam Schwartzel says Russell Hampton Parker, 32, of Wilmington, was crossing the street just before 8 p.m. when he was hit by a car heading south. Parker died at the scene.

Cpl. Schwartzel says alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash. He says no charges have been filed at this time, but the accident is still under investigation.
