Oscar Mayer Wienermobile makes several stops in the Cape Fear region

WILMINGTON (WWAY) — The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is one of six hot dog-shaped vehicles that travels across the U.S. all year round, and one has been making its way through Southeastern North Carolina.
The Wienermobile is made from fiberglass, has a V8 engine, and weighs the equivalent of 140,500 hotdogs.
Evie Serda, also known as Grill Ready Evie, said driving the vehicle makes her feel like a bodyguard.
“Everyone wants to learn everything about it,” said Serda. “They want to know stories, but they also want to tell you their stories about the Wienermobile.”
While the Wienermobile has changed over the years in design, its name has stuck around.
Another “Hot Dogger” known as Corn Dog Carly shared her encounter with one fan whose own name was tied to the vehicle.
“We were at a Harris Teeter and someone came up, and their last name was Wiener,” said Carly. “It was kind of like a family reunion!”
