Pay it forward for the chance to win big

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — Whether you’re looking to save big on the entire wedding package, snag a gown on a budget or give back to your community, there are several ways to do that as you plan your Big Day.

"The Knot So Traditional Wedding Give" is a unique wedding give where the engaged couples commit to serve 30 hours each at a local non-profit organization. The combined total of 60 hours qualifies them for a chance to win a wonderful wedding package. Khalilah Olokunola was inspired to create the pay-it-forward event after learning about other giveaways for targeted groups, such as members of the military.

Another upcoming event will appeal to frugal fashionistas and former brides alike. The Mad Dash Bridal Run takes place for the 3rd year in a row on September 29, 2012.

It’s a southern recreation of The Running of the Brides in New Yorkl, where brides line up and run for bridal gowns starting at $75. Olokunola invites brides to dash for a dress, while former brides can register their gowns for just $5 to sell at the event.
