Pedestrian hit by taxi released from hospital

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The pedestrian struck by a taxi cab Saturday morning at Wrightsville Beach has been released from the hospital.

Just after 1:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Causeway Drive, Surf City resident Kathryn Ward reportedly ran into oncoming traffic when getting out of a cab.

A different cab that was traveling eastbound struck Ward.

Wrightsville Beach Police and Highway Patrol investigated, and determined that the accident was unavoidable by the taxi driver. He will not face charges.
