Pender County ghost walk wins national award

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Pender County’s ghost walk was so popular last year that additional events had to be added and now, it is getting some national recognition.

The program themed “Ghosts of Pender’s Past” has been recognized with an achievement award from the National Association of Counties.

The awards honors innovative and effective county government programs across the country.

The ghost walk was honored for using innovative art to spotlight Pender County’s Culture and History.

The events are a collaboration between the Pender County Historical Society, the Historical Society of Topsail Island, Moores Creek National Battlefield, Pender Arts Council, and students and staff from Pender County School District.
