UPDATE: Pender man accused of assaulting Wendy’s employee vindicated, woman charged

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Pender County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Savannah Nikole Lewis for one misdemeanor count of filing a false police report regarding her allegations of being sexually assaulted at the Rocky Point Wendy’s restaurant on March 20, 2019.

Lewis called Pender County 911 on March 20 and reported a man sexually assaulted her while she was in the women’s restroom. She repeated these allegations to responding deputies and a detective.

A warrant charging the man with one count of misdemeanor sexual battery and assault on a female was obtained based off of Lewis’s report.

The man turned himself in Friday and was able to provide evidence to show Lewis provided false and misleading information to detectives about the sexual assault. Charges against the man will be dismissed.

Lewis was arrested Saturday and was released after posting a secured bond in the amount of $750.

WWAY has chosen to remove the name of the man accused now that he has been exonerated.
