Person dies after medical emergency at Wrightsville beach on Sunday

WRIGHTSVILLE, NC (WWAY) — A person died Sunday afternoon after suffering a medical emergency near a public beach access in Wrightsville Beach, according to town officials.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, near Beach Access #10 on Mallard Street.

In a statement, the Town of Wrightsville Beach said the individual experienced a fatal medical emergency. Officials did not release the person’s identity or provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“The Town of Wrightsville Beach extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and all those affected by this tragic loss,” the statement said.

Town officials also thanked the emergency responders who assisted at the scene.

“We also extend our gratitude to the emergency personnel who responded to this incident,” the town said.
