Police identify woman on bike killed in hit-and-run

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Wilmington police are investigating a hit-and-run that killed a 24-year-old woman.

It happened around 2:07 a.m. in the 1600 block of Shipyard Boulevard.

Officers and EMS responded to a call of a woman lying in the road with a damaged bicycle. Police have identified her as April Marie Daugherty of Wilmington.

Police say the woman was rushed to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where she died from her injuries.

No one has been arrested, but police have identified a suspect vehicle.
