Planning group pushes Cape Fear Memorial Bridge replacement

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (StarNews) — At its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, the Wilmington Metropolitan Planning Organization passed a pair of related resolutions pertaining to the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge.

The first requests that NCDOT give adequate notice of expected lane closures on the structure in order to give commuters the opportunity to make travel adjustments. The second urges NCDOT to treat the replacement of the bridge with the urgency that it requires.

After lengthy debate on these issues at its meeting in August, the WMPO board tabled a single resolution on the two issues until they could be split at this meeting.
