Ploof Road work to take another week to finish

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Many folks in Leland have waited patiently for work on Ploof Road to be done. Well it’s almost there. You’ll just need to wait a little longer.

Leland Planning Director Gary Vidmar says the contractor has provided updates. He says the curb work is done, and now the last step is they need to put the asphalt in.

Vidmar says it looks like Ploof Road will be complete by next Friday, but it depends on the weather.

The work was supposed to be done Feb. 9, but weather issues in January pushed that deadline back a month.

Ploof has been closed just off US 17 past Aldi and Exxon for months.

The work includes construction of a traffic circle to connect Ploof, Tradeway Drive and the new road that runs from the Walmart shopping center to Aldi.

In an update back in January, Vidmar said once Ploof reopens, there is more work to be done at Ploof and US 17.
