Police: Car catches fire in apartment complex parking lot

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say someone set a vehicle on fire in a Wilmington apartment complex overnight Saturday.

Wilmington Police say it happened at 12:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Campus Walk apartments at 463 Racine Drive. That’s where officers say a vehicle was completely engulfed in flames when they got to the scene.

Officers say a witness told them they spotted three people running from the vehicle when the flames started. Police say another vehicle nearby was also damaged in the fire. WPD says fire investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire.
