Police investigate reports of gunfire near Alton Lennon Dam site in Boiling Spring Lakes

BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WWAY) — Officers responded Sunday evening to reports of a person firing a gun near the Alton Lennon Dam site in Boiling Spring Lakes, according to the Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department.

In a Facebook post, the department said officers and several other area agencies were called to the area around 5 p.m. after receiving reports of a young man shooting a gun near the dam site.

Officers were sent out to investigate. No injuries have been reported, according to police.

The department asked the public to avoid the area while the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department or call 911.

WWAY has reached out to the department for additional information, but has not received a response as of Sunday night.
