Police investigating after armed duo robs worker at Wilmington tire store

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating after they say an armed duo robbed a worker at a Wilmington tire store before taking off over a fence behind the business.

Police say just before 2:30 p.m. yesterday, two men walked into Herbert Tire Service at 2011 Princess Place Drive and started talking to the store clerk. That’s when officers say one of the men pulled a gun on the worker, holding it to his side.

They say the second suspect then pulled out another gun and started searching the employee. Police say the duo took the man’s wallet, cell phone and a weapon from inside the store before leaving through the back door.

Officers say a witness watched the robbers jump a fence to get away, so they started to follow the men. They say the witness saw the pair get into a red van, which was heading towards Market Street. Police are still investigating the crime.
