Police: Man follows woman, tries to break into home with kids inside

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police said a man is in jail after trying to break into a home with a woman and three children inside.

Police said last night in the 700 block of Wooster Street, a woman called 911 about an attempted burglary. When police arrived, they said they found and arrested Quemar Deshawn Wooten, 29. The female victim said Wooten followed her home and tried to get in her house. She locked herself in the home with the children inside while Wooten tried to force his way in the front of the home, she told investigators.

Wooten is facing charges including 1st degree burglary and several drug charges. Police said they found crack cocaine and synthetic marijuana, or Spice, along with drug paraphernalia on him. Police said Wooten was under the influence of a narcotic.

Wooten is in jail under a $50,000 bond.
