Police nab four for stealing merchandise from several stores around area

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say four from Robeson County face charges for stealing a slew of items from stores around the area after officers found thousands in merchandise inside the rental car they were driving.

Just before 6:30 p.m. Monday, police say they got reports of about $3,000 worth of cell phones stolen from the US Cellular in the 1400 block of S. College Road. After learning that the suspects were spotted in a parking lot on Oleander Drive, police say they stopped an Enterprise rental car on Wooster Street.

That’s where officers say they found nearly $1,500 worth of stolen items inside the rental car. Police say the merchandise was stolen from several stores, including Victoria’s Secret, Aeropostale, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Game Stop, and Spencer’s Gifts. Police say the four people inside the car, all from Robeson County, were arrested and charged with theft, among charges stemming from previous crimes committed in other areas.

Quameka Davis, 22, and Jessica Ellerby, 26, each face felony larceny and possession of stolen goods charges. Tyrone Davis, 35, and Craig French, 34, each face charges for felony larceny, along with conspiracy to commit felony larceny, after police say they gave false information to officers.
